Squaring the Circle

The Circle The building’s exterior wall surface area varies in size with the building form. It is one of the most expensive part of a building and the major cause for its energy loss.

The most efficient building form — that provides the largest indoor area (the buildings’ reason for being) with the smallest exterior wall — is the circle.

The Square provides more compact arrangements and easier manageability.

EA Roundhouses unearths the circle and integrates it with the orthogonal grid to create the best of both worlds.

By virtue of its design alone the roundhouse is far superior to any other building even before
the application of any green enhancing means like solar panels, superior insulation, water management, etc.

It is the essence of its design that creates the ultimate sustainability
and even more dramatically improved benefits.

1. EA RH I — Low Rise

The critical and growing problem facing the world today — the need to provide shelters to its citizens — is brought to the forefront even more when natural and man-made catastrophes — earthquakes, hurricanes, tsunamis, floods, wars, fires,  etc. — render millions suddenly homeless.

EA RH l is particularly fitting for rebuilding disaster stricken area, better than anything that is available today. Mobilization is immediate, and completion, as permanent dwelling, can be achieved in days, not weeks or months, utilizing local labor, as work on building site is reduced to rapid, simple, manual assembly that does not leave ANY room for errors.

When put to the task, RHT will dramatically and fundamentally change the ways in which buildings are designed, constructed and utilized, enabling the more efficient creation of better quality, unique structures that are less costly to build, faster to market, and vastly more environmentally sustainable. Validation

Two EA RH I home designs were fully developed (manually, without automation).  One was built.
Both cost 40% less than the prevailing cost of same standard homes, by same top contractors,
in same locations.

Both cost estimated at 1/3 less than industry standards.

 

EA Super Towers

EA Super Towers technologies introduces a breakthrough in structural and construction techniques that enables — for the first time — the super tall buildings that can:

Reach record heights without the traditional structural cost premium;

Be constructed much more rapidly; while providing unprecedented flexibility in floor to floor heights
and interiors arrangements.

EA STs are designed to function as vessels for virtually any mix of uses. Buildings that can respond to any set of needs and demands at any time.

An opportunity (even responsibility) to design STs that will never need to be repurposed,
or expensively retrofitted, because they are infinitely adaptable to any mix of purposes.
They are always already fitted.

Multiple phasing alternatives will suit any emerging market conditions, needs, and available resources.

The self-renewing building is where sustainability gets smart.

The tower is designed to be manufactured, which reduces time and cost, and raise quality.

Its exo-skeleton's geometry eliminates uplift at its base, simplifying greatly its foundations.

Super Towers imagery:

The towers reflects its environment and blends into its constant changes (see Change, and Blend).

As the sun moves across the sky its reflections, moves in small increments along with it;

Even when hi-reflectance glass (mirror) is used, sun reflectance is broken into small fractions, similar to refraction of light in diamonds, eliminating harmful glare.

STs represents a departure from today’s know-how and practice as current building technologies and design principles cannot produce such buildings effectively.

EA ST makes this building type feasible economically.

The tower's architectural and structural disciplines are indistinguishable.
Architectural components are also structural, and structural components are also architectural, resulting in extraordinary visual and performance qualities.

This unity of purpose is non-existent in today’s practice, It now exist only in the great historical structures of the past where architecture and structure are inseparable.

EA ST shares multiple qualities with EA STB and EA MTB, most notable is the tower's structure, and the building's interaction with its environment.

3. EA MTB — Mega Tall Building

EA MTB shares multiple qualities with EA ST and EA STB, most notable is the tower's structure and the building's interaction with its environment.

EA MTB's conic form is the ultimate form for very tall buildings – architecturally, structurally and environmentally.

The tapered building form offers multiple floor sizes for accommodating multiple occupancies. It places most people on lower floors, reducing energy needed for vertical transportation.

The aerodynamic behavior, critical for very tall building, is such that the wind pressure on the building is lowest, resulting in substantial economies in the building's structure and curtain wall, and is expected to be comfortable from a human occupant standpoint with minimum use of dampers.

The towers external structure could be completed rapidly at first, providing an appropriate imagery (see pictures), while the internal content can be built at any time and desired sequence and at any location within the structure, enabling ultimate and rare development flexibility.

The entire structure comes straight down to the foundations without any removal of columns, and without transfer girders at the lower levels. with the exterior diagonal geometry, there is no uplift at the base, and the foundations are greatly simplified.
